    Todd & Ward, PC is the successor firm to Marchant and Bristow, a partnership founded in 1951 by T. Eston Marchant and Walter J. Bristow, Jr. The law firm has been in continuous practice since that time. In 1982 T. Eston Marchant, who had then assumed the duties as Adjutant General of the State of South Carolina, and Roy D. Bates, both partners in the firm, withdrew, and the remaining partners, Walter B. Todd, Jr. and James R. Barber, III, continued in practice as Todd and Barber until Mr. Barber's withdrawal upon election as a circuit court judge. Tobias G. Ward became a shareholder in the firm in 1989.
