    Schatzman Baker (formerly McCarthy and Schatzman), founded by John F. McCarthy, Sr. in 1927, is one of Princeton's oldest law firms. In 1948, John F. McCarthy, Jr. joined the firm and Richard Schatzman followed in 1967. Its main office was located on Charlton Street from 1927 to 1985. Two Superior Court judges, the late Theodore Tams and the late Coleman T. Brennan, were with the firm through the 1970's. Former partner, F. Patrick McManimon was sworn in as a Superior Court Judge on January 10, 1992. Former Governor William T. Cahill was a member from 1974 to 1978. John P. Sheridan, Jr., former Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, was with McCarthy and Schatzman from 1974 until he became Commissioner in 1981. McCarthy and Schatzman moved to 228 Alexander Street in Princeton, New Jersey in July 1985, and then to 731 Alexander Road in Princeton, New Jersey, in July 2000. John F. McCarthy, Jr. retired on January 1, 2006. On October 1, 2007 the firm name was changed to Schatzman Baker.
